General Information:

The Band Boosters organization provides many optional opportunities for WVHS band students to raise money for music-related expenses such as band trips, music camps, private lessons, instruments and music. The Band Booster Treasurer maintains a fundraising account for each WV band student, and the student portion of fundraising money earned accrues in that account throughout the student’s high school years. Students determine how and when to use the money in their accounts.

The Band Boosters executive board determines what percentage of fund raising earnings is applied to student accounts and to the general band fund (if any). Allocations to the general band fund allow the WV music department to maintain its high level of quality and excellence, which could not be achieved without the continued financial and/or volunteer support of WV band families.

The WV Band Boosters sponsor fundraisers such as car washes, Ribfest/Last Fling shift work, Pancake Breakfasts and Crab Boils. There are also major fundraisers every Spring and Fall. Ongoing fundraisers include the Music Patron and Scrip gift card/certificate programs.

Scrip:

Scrip is an ongoing fundraiser where you buy and use gift cards/certificates for local and national retailers and then use them for purchases you make on a regular basis. Here’s how it works: Participating retailers agree to sell the gift cards/certificates to WV Band Boosters at a discount, you buy the certificates from a band representative at full face value, and then you redeem them for the full face value. Music Patrons:

The Music Patron program is an ongoing fundraiser for where contributions are made to the WV band, choir or orchestra general fund. In return, contributors receive discounts on WVHS concert recordings and recognition, if desired, in concert programs. Contribution levels include:

• Family - $25
• Silver - $50 - $99
• Gold - $100 - $249
• Platinum - $250+
