The Warriors won 7 of the next eight games, and then captured the
Waubonsie Valley Christmas Tournament title by defeating Hinsdale
Central. Kyle Obendorf and Jelani Johnson were selected
All-tournament.
One of the best highlights to the season was defeating Neuqua Valley
on a last second shot by Jelani Johnson. It was one of the loudest
and most exciting games in Waubonsie Valley’s gym.
The Warriors finished the Upstate 8 Conference 8-2 good for second
place for the second straight year. Kevin VandenBerg and Justin
Peaster were awarded first team All-Conference. J
osh Daniels and Jelani Johnson were honorable mention. Six members
of the team were All- Academic. Justin Peaster received the
sportsmanship award from the conference and our program. Josh
Daniels was named most outstanding defender. Kevin Vandenberg is the
5th all time assist leader and he and Justin were co-MVP of the
team.
Waubonsie Valley captured the regional title and produced another 20
win season finishing 22-7.
The last two years the senior class finished 42-17 with 2 regional
