The Waubonsie Valley High School Library Media Center is dedicated to providing the highest quality resources and services for our students and staff. Information resources in both print and electronic formats are available. Students may access technology in the LMC and from home to support learning. The LMC Directors and staff are committed to assisting students and staff with research needs.
Throughout the year, the LMC encourages reading through programs such as "One Book, One School", Teen Read Week, and author visits. The WVHS Book Club reads and discusses books selected from the latest publications for teens.

- Library Hours: 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
- Circulation Policy: Students may check out up to five items for a three week time period, no more than two items per topic. Reference materials and magazines may be checked out overnight. Some materials will be placed on closed reserve for multiple classes researching the same topic. Student ID is required to checkout any materials.
- Renewals: Books may be renewed for one additional three week period. To renew a book, students must come to the library circulation desk with the book and student ID. If the book is overdue, the fine must be paid before the book is renewed.
- Photocopying: The LMC has a black-and-white copier with 10 cents per page charge. The machine can enlarge and make transparencies.
- Printing: The LMC has black/white and color laser printers behind the circulation desk. There is no charge for printing, but students are strongly encouraged to print responsibly.
- School Store: The LMC offers a small group of supplies for student purchase such as pens, pencils, note cards, poster board, construction paper, file folders, envelopes, presentation folders, and miscellaneous other supplies. We also have some supplies for students free use: scissors, ruler, stapler, stencils, markers, crayons, highlighters.
The LMC encourages reading among students and staff:
One Book, One School celebration. Each
break, a book is chosen for a shared reading
experience. Staff and students provide book
suggestions. Once a title is chosen, multiple
copies are available in the library. Flyers and
displays encourage reading of this book.
Following the break, there is an after-school
celebration for those who read the book. We
discuss the book and enjoy food and activities
related to the book.
The Abraham Lincoln Illinois High School
Book Award. Here are this year’s titles:
http://feitler.uchicago.edu/hsal.pdf Students are
encouraged to read at least four of the books on
this list and vote for their favorites. The LMC
provides cookies and prizes periodically
throughout the year to entice students to choose
the Lincolns for leisure-time reading.
The WVHS Book Club is a student-driven activity that meets every 2 weeks after school in the LMC with advisor, LMC director Gayl Smith. Details about upcoming meetings can be found in the LMC.
Get caught reading is celebrated once a year. The LMC
staff prowls the school looking for
students and staff who are reading.
These readers are then awarded
with prizes and photographed for a
display in the LMC. Pictured is

Author visits. Once a year, an author visits WV and
shares with students his or her experiences (pictured,

during his visit to WVHS).
