The
Varsity Girls Tennis team ended its season with a record of 11-7-2 overall. The
Warriors were led by four twenty game winners Hannah Owens, Angelica Alvarez,
Kayla Hess, and April Kochman. We also had two 18 game winners who were seniors
Megan Wright and Isabel Panicker. The Warriors have a promising group of 9 juniors
who were on varsity that will need to up their game to match the graduating
fire power that is leaving. The girls ended having Saturday tournament success
as they repeated as Rosary Quad Champions, finished 4th in the 16 team Jacobs
Invite, and finished 2nd at the 8 team Wheaton South Doubles Invite. Coach
Galow thanks the seniors for their consummate leadership shown this year and
wishes them good luck in college.

JV2: 1-7 in Conference, 2-7 Overall
The Warriors finished 11-11-1 overall with a 2-6 conference record. With no seniors on the team the Warriors are expecting big things next year. This has been a year of learning with too many absents, injuries, and not finishing matches. Very typical of a young team. Coach Galow is impressed with the work ethic and only hopes it continues into the off season. Girls with under five hundred records will need to step up and win. The Warriors had a fantastic season from Hannah Owens at one singles with a 29-9 record. Hannah has been very consistent for her first three years all at 1 singles. We are looking for even bigger things in her senior season.

Girls' tennis fulfilled their promise to rebound from a dismal 7-17 season in 2003 to post a successful 13-9-2 campaign this fall. While the varsity turned their season around, the JV teams also kept their winning tradition. Coach Tom Wood guided the JV 1 team to a 13-6 overall record, and 8-2 in conference and ultimately finishing in third place. Coach Karma Sydenham navigated the JV2 team to an 8-5 mark, 6-2 in conference and a third place finish in conference.
The varsity team won the Rosary Quad, finished fourth in conference and ended their season as a 3rd place team in the West Aurora Sectional. Individual accomplishments started with eight-20 game winners, nine-Academic All conference players. Our two-All conference players Jessie Sappington and Holly Kalas were crowned conference champs at #2 doubles, and freshman Bryna Nasenbeny became the first female freshman sectional singles title winner at the West Aurora Sectional.
