2018-19 Course Verification and Elective Course Change Requests

Dear Warrior Families,

2018-2019 Course Verification
It is that time of year for students in the Class of 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 to review their course requests for the 2018-2019 school year.

Class of 2019 – Class of 2021: This is done through Home Access Center (HAC) by clicking on the schedule link and scroll to the bottom of the page. You will be able to view the courses your student will take next year. This is not your student’s daily schedule. The finalized schedule will be viewable in mid-August through HAC. Please note that some course selection may have changed since January due to course cancellations or conflicts between two course requests. Students impacted by these changes have been contacted by their school counselor.

Class of 2022: The high school schedule link is not available in your HAC at this time. The middle schools will distribute a paper copy for your review later this week. This is not your student’s daily schedule. The finalized schedule will be viewable in mid-August through HAC.

Important Information regarding Course review

ERROR - If there is an error in your course request-verification: (e.g. should have Physics, but have Biology) contact your assigned school counselor immediately.

ELECTIVE COURSE CHANGE REQUEST - The elective change request window is Monday 5/21 – Friday 5/25. Forms and instructions are available for pick up in each class house as well as on the WV Counseling Department website. These forms must be turned into the class house and signed by a parent/guardian before they will be considered.

Please be aware that several elements affect course availability. New enrollments, schedule changes because of summer school courses, and course balancing for reasonable class sizes are some of the factors we must take into account. Submitted elective change requests will be processed on a SEAT-AVAILABLE basis and are not guaranteed. Our goal is to have each of our students in the classes they requested for next year.

Level placements in core classes were completed in February and will not be part of the change request process at Waubonsie Valley. We will, however, speak with families that have a level concern if an extenuating circumstance has interrupted their student’s academic journey. Please contact the appropriate academic department chair, not your counselor, if your request involves a level change. Counselors will not process any level changes without academic department chair approval. Department chair contact information can be found on the Faculty & Staff section of the WVHS website.

Thank you for your partnership and your patience with this process. Your student’s final schedule will be available for viewing in HAC in mid-August.
