Veterans Day Drive/Assembly Information

Reported by webmaster@ipsd.org on 10/11/17

Each year Waubonsie Valley High School takes great pride in recognizing Veterans Day. To do this, we have in place several initiatives that allow us to honor the service of those who have served to protect our freedoms.

Initiative 1: On Nov 9th at 9 am WV will host our Veterans Day Assembly. If you are or you know of a Veteran who would like to attend this assembly, please RSVP by clicking this link or by sending an email to Erin_Yourison@ipsd.org. This year’s theme is Patriotism and we will hear from Mr. Lou Kuetlzo, Korean War Veteran active community figure. The assembly will begin at 9AM.

Initiative 2: From Nov 1st until Nov 18th, Waubonsie Valley High School will have on display our Veteran Tribute Wall. This wall displays pictures along with service information for those Veterans and Soldiers within our community that have served their country. We take great honor in knowing that these individuals have served to protect our freedoms. If you would like to have information for you or a veteran you know on display, please send a picture along with service information of branch, rank, and dates to Jason_Schmidtgall@ipsd.org

Initiative 3: During the weeks of Nov 1st through Nov 11th Waubonsie will be collecting snack items to provide to Operation Support Our Troops of Naperville. These items are boxed and sent to active service members. Last year we collected 42 boxes of supplies for Operation Support Our Troops. Items donated for this snack drive can be brought directly to the atrium of Waubonsie Valley High School. Items generally in need by the troops are: mouthwash (small bottles), body lotion, body wash/shampoo, jerky, dried fruit snacks, trail mix, granola bars, socks, AA batteries, gum, mints and other items seen at this link: Operation Support Our Troop Donation Items

Thank you for joining us as we recognize our veterans.
