Class of 2013--All junior level students in the State of Illinois are required to take the Prairie State Achievement Exam (PSAE). Juniors must complete this exam on both days in order to receive a high school diploma at the end of their senior year. The PSAE is a combination of two exams.
Day 1 is the ACT exam and Day 2 is the WorkKeys exam. Both days are required to complete this graduation requirement. The ACT test measures college readiness and may be used for college entrance. The WorkKeys exam helps measure skills in math and reading that employers feel are critical to job success. All students are registered for these exams through the district and there is no cost to students to register for this exam. Students should find their testing location by reviewing the posters hung within the halls at WVHS.
Class of 2014—Sophomores will be taking the Practice ACT. This free practice test is intended to assist students in their preparation for taking the official ACT as juniors. The results of this test will help students narrow down specific areas of strength and weakness on the ACT. This practice opportunity is a valuable tool for many students as they continue to prepare for the standardized testing that takes place junior year. This experience is meant to exactly mimic the ACT/PSAE testing experience of their junior year.
Class of 2015—Freshmen will be taking a free Practice PLAN test in preparation for the PLAN test administered to sophomores each October. The PLAN is the second part of the EPAS (Explore, Plan, ACT) series of tests. It serves as an indicator of a student’s success on the ACT test that he/she will take as a junior.
On Day 2, Warrior freshmen will participate in our Career Fair where they will utilize information from their Career Cluster survey to attend various presentation from professionals in their area of interest. These activities emphasize career exploration and provide information for students to narrow their professional fields of interest.
