Choirs welcome Ghanaian Master Drummer Sowah Mensah to WV

Guest artist to perform on Fall Collage Choral Concert - October 8
The Waubonsie Valley Choirs are welcoming ethnomusicologist, composer, and "Master Drummer" Sowah Mensah back to WVHS for their Fall Collage Concert on Thursday, October 8 at 7:30 PM. Mr. Mensah last appeared at WV in January 2009 for the Annual Freshman Meet the Artist concert. He is originally from Ghana, West Africa and is currently a professor of music at both Macalester College and the University of St. Paul in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Collage will feature ALL the Waubonsie Valley choirs performing a wide variety of music including folk songs from Haiti, South Africa, and Brazil in addition to Spirituals, Gospel music, and the greatest hits of Pergolesi, Mozart, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, and the rock band Journey! The concert will close with all the WV choirs performing traditional Ghanaian music with Sowah Mensah. Don't miss this exciting evening of music!
Doors open at 7 PM and the concert begins at 7:30 in the WV Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public. Thank you to our WVHS Music Patrons for their financial support of this exciting evening!
