Senior Families: Important FAFSA and Financial Aid Information

Reported by ryan_vankampen@ipsd.org on 12/16/20

Attention Senior Families:

NEW FOR 2020-21! The State of Illinois now requires all Illinois public high school students to complete either the
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®)
or the Alternative Application for Illinois Financial Aid (Alternative Application) as a prerequisite to receiving a high school diploma. For students who choose not to file an application, a waiver may be completed by their parent/guardian and scanned/e-mailed to the student’s school counselor. Waubonsie Valley receives confirmation of your filing but does not have access to the information that you provide. If you have filed, no further action is needed. To date 55% of the senior class has completed the FAFSA requirement.

If you haven’t yet filled out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Alternative Application, and would like assistance doing so, consider watching a replay of our fall financial aid presentations or reviewing the posted slides (Presentations Available Here ).

Further assistance with filling out the FAFSA is also available from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission by visiting www.ISAC.org or calling 1-800-899-4722. Visit this link for information that you will need in order to complete the FAFSA.
