IPSD Headed to Science Olympiad State Tournament

Reported by ray_hanus@ipsd.org on 3/7/19

Students from all three IPSD High Schools will be headed to the state Science Olympiad tournament in Champaign, on April 13. This is the 7th consecutive year that students from all three high schools have qualified for the state tournament. Science Olympiad teams from IPSD have quietly been dominating local competitions.

Science Olympiad is an event that involves 23 different competitions that cover topics related to Life Science, Physics, Chemistry, Earth/Environmental Science, Inquiry, and Engineering topics. The competition consists of written tests, lab events, building events, experimental design, and coding.

IPSD's Science Olympiad success can be celebrated by the entire district because of it's strong emphasis on STEM opportunities that students have across grade levels. Our Science Olympiad teams are doing so well due to the district's commitment to STEM education at every building.

Science Olympiad coaches are:
Waubonsie-Michael Hoehn
Neuqua-Paula Mueller
Metea-Margaret Stokes
