Nothing works for me!: The interrelation of Anxiety, Depression and Suicide
Waubonsie Valley High School, Room 156 (by the Pool, Door 16)
October 16, 2018
6:30 P.M.

This presentation will focus on the stress epidemic that our adolescents are facing and the resulting increase of impulsive and risk taking behaviors. The feeling of hopelessness that adolescents and family feel are often expressed by the statement “Nothing works for me.” The feelings of overwhelming stress can be expressed by excessive sleep, isolation, substance use and other avoidant/distracting behaviors. There are skills that adolescents can learn to help them increase feelings of confidence and have the ability to bounce back from stress rather than being consumed by it. The presentation will review warning signs for parents, and skills that can be applied to manage anxiety and increase feelings of self-worth.
